Woman, 20, arrested for DUI after speeding with headlights off

A 20-year-old Modesto woman was arrested for DUI early Saturday morning after she was observing speeding in her black-colored Hyundai Elantra in the dark without her headlights on.

At 2:09 a.m., Ceres Police Officer Angel Murillo was patrolling the area of Blaker and Service roads when he saw the car, driven by Breanna Gonzales, zipping down the road. Officer Angel Murillo caught up to the Hyundai and attempted to stop the driver who ignored the officer and led him on a pursuit. Gonzales eventually stopped in the area of Service Road near Crows Landing Road at which time she was removed at gunpoint.

When Gonzales was out of the vehicle, Officer Murillo detected the strong odor of alcohol on her breath which triggered a DUI investigation. Gonzales participated in a field sobriety tests which indicated she was under the influence of alcohol. Gonzales was arrested and her breath sample showed her blood alcohol content was over three times the legal limit for an adult to be able to drive.

Gonzales was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of DUI and felony evasion of peace officer in a vehicle.
