Modesto resident Ruth Cougoule, 52, was found to be three times the legal limit of alcohol intake when she allegedly struck a car in the McDonald's parking lot at Hatch and Herndon roads and took off.

The crash occurred at 6:20 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24.

According to police, Cougoule hit the car and left it damaged as she took off eastbound on Hatch Road. The responding officer saw her vehicle and chased after it, finally getting her to stop in the 1700 block of Hatch Road. Cougoule was determined to be intoxicated and registered a 0.27 blood alcohol content in the breathalyzer.

Cougoule was arrested on charges of DUI, hit and run and driving on a suspended license due to a prior hit and run.
