Ryan Taylor, the youngest member to be appointed in recent memory to the Turlock Mosquito Abatement District board, was appointed Tuesday, June 20 by the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors in a 5-0 decision.
Taylor, 20, was appointed to an unexpired term ending January 4, 2024.
“I’m so thankful to the Board for entrusting me with this responsibility and I’m looking forward to helping my community through this appointment,” said Taylor. “I’ve never been a big fan of mosquitoes and I’m ready to get to work finding solutions.”
The Turlock Mosquito Abatement District is in charge of eradicating the pest in Ceres and communities south of the Tuolumne River.
The District is governed by California Mosquito and Vector Control Law along with an eight member Board of Trustees. The trustees are local residents appointed by city councils and the board of supervisors of Stanislaus County. The District is publically funded and has monthly board meetings that are open to the public.
The District provides year around service which includes prompt response to service requests, on-site inspections and mosquito control work as necessary. Mosquito fish are available at the District office.
The next meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 16 at 4412 N. Washington Road, Turlock.
