Brother, 25, fatally stabbed in fight

An argument between two Ceres brothers turned deadly Thursday night in Turlock when one fatally stabbed the other, reported the Turlock Police Department.

The deceased was identified as Isaac Urias, 25, of Ceres. His younger brother, Marcos Urias, 20, of Ceres was taken into custody.

Turlock Police dispatched officers to the 800 block of W. Hawkeye Avenue at 3:44 p.m. for a report of an altercation that had escalated into an assault.

The first officers to arrive at the scene located Isaac Urias suffering from at least one stab wound.

“Despite immediate lifesaving efforts by police and fire, Isaac was pronounced dead at the scene,” said Turlock Police Department spokeswoman Dominique Sanchez.

Several people present at the scene, including Marcos Urias, who was detained by the officers, noted Sanchez.

Detectives were called to the scene and began interviewing everyone and were able to confirm that the stabbing stemmed from an altercation between the Urias brothers.

Marcos Urias was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of murder.

“This is a tragic incident where an altercation between brothers turned deadly. Our hearts go out to those affected, and we are conducting a thorough investigation to determine what exactly happened,” said Turlock Police Chief Jason Hedden.

This is an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
