A Monday evening fire destroyed a car parked at a residence in the 2500 block of E. Redwood Road in rural Ceres but firefighters responded quickly to prevent it from spreading to the interior of the adjacent house.

The fire was reported at 9:07 p.m. with six engines dispatched along with the Quint ladder truck and a water tender from Keyes Fire. When they arrived they found a vehicle fully involved along with trees that had caught the exterior of a single story house on fire. Crews quickly extinguished the fire and made sure the fire did not affect the interior of the house.

The Stanislaus County Fire Investigations Unit is looking into the cause of the fire.
