Two artistic students attending Central Valley High School had their work catch the attention of some national movers and shakers.
Junior Madyson Daniels won second Place in California’s 13th Congressional District Art Competition. Her artwork will hang in Congressman Duarte’s office in Washington D.C.
According to Sam Samra, who is Duarte’s District Director, the congressman “loved how Madyson’s painting featured a canal in the foreground, because securing water for the valley is a mission of Congressman Duarte. He loved the work’s representation of the valley and looks forward to having it showcased in his D.C. office.”
If that didn’t have CTE Media Arts teacher Kari Copley smiling enough, junior Alondra Sanchez was named a “California Arts Scholar.” She was selected as a top high school student in California in the field of animation.
Sanchez was selected to attend the California State Summer School for the Arts (CSSSA) at CalArts in Valencia this summer. She was awarded a $4,600 scholarship to study animation for four weeks with professionals in the industry. Alondra said she is looking forward to all that she’ll learn this summer.
“Alondra draws daily to improve her skills and her creativity combined with her infectious enthusiasm inspires her classmates,” said Copley. “Her experience this summer at CSSSA is going to change her life.”
