Convicted robber Eddie Lee Patterson, 58, of Modesto was found unsuitable for parole at a Nov. 5, hearing of the State Board of Parole Hearings.
Patterson was a parolee at large when he was found guilty of robbing the same 7-Eleven on Herndon Road in Ceres on August 29, 1996, and again on September 5, 1996. He was arrested in October 1996 by Ceres detectives. Previous to the Ceres robberies, Patterson was wanted for running from his parole agent after being placed on parole for a Santa Clara County robbery conviction.
Deputy District Attorney Yasameen Sharifi appeared argued for Patterson to remain locked up.
During his board interview, Patterson stated that since he was a three-strikes candidate he would not admit to committing the crime, even if he had committed the crime.
Patterson was convicted of robbery on July 14, 1997 and admitted his prior “strikes” for a residential burglary and robbery. Patterson was then sentenced to 25 years to life in state prison.
During Patterson’s third parole hearing, Sharifi said Patterson has a lack of understanding of his alcohol and drug addiction, has a lack of insight into his criminality, and cited his record of being unsuccessful while on parole. The Board deliberated and agreed that Patterson is not suitable for parole and wants Patterson to have detailed release plans, control of his emotions, and more programming when they review parole in three years.
