City hiring new HR director in Vasquez
Ceres city seal

Delilah Vasquez was ratified last week to serve as the city’s Director of Human Resources.

She will be the city’s fourth HR director in past two-and-a-half years.

Suzanne Dean resigned on Oct. 6, 2019 and was replaced by Aaron Slater. When he left in August 2020 he was replaced by Theresa Roland. Roland left the city in January but it took a while for the city to recruit her replacement.

“Mrs. Vasquez comes from a candidate pool of highly qualified applicants, underwent an interview with the panel, followed up by a second interview with the city manager and a checking of references,” City Manager Alex Terrazas told the council on May 9.

Vasquez has extensive human resources management experience and has been employed with Stanislaus County for over 22 years. She most recently was the assistant director for the Stanislaus County Community Services Agency where she oversaw approximately 600 employees.

Vasquez also spent three years with the Stanislaus County Chief Executive Officer’s office.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management from California State University, Stanislaus.

Her salary begins at $12,102 per month, or $145,344 annually.

Attempts to reach Vasquez for a comment were unsuccessful.
