Special pricing, giveaways and raffle prizes will be offered for two weeks at Cost Less Foods to celebrate its 20th anniversary in Ceres.

The celebration will run from Oct. 15-28.

The store plans to post a large banner outside the store this week reading “20 year anniversary, thank you to all our loyal customers. Cost Less Hatch Road.”

“I just thought it was right that we could kind of pay back the community for everything they’ve done for us and kept us in existence,” said Ceres store manager Dale Ambris. “Sales are good and they’re continuing to grow. We’ve got vendors supporting it. We’re going to raffle off a bunch of interesting prizes. What it is all the vendors that have made a pretty darn good living at that location, I’ve asked them all to chip in and they understand how important it is. Their whole thing is trying to give the customers something back.”

Those prizes include soda coolers, bicycles and barbecue grills.

Items to be given out include cookies, tortillas will be offered as well as toys for kids.

A $50 gift certificate will be given out randomly every day and bags of groceries and goodies will be given out every couple of hours, he said.

Ambris and the store have been staunch supporters of the community, making generous donations to Howard Training Center and schools and at community functions like the Ceres Unified School Foundation and National Night Out. 

Demonstrations will also be part of the celebration.

“I’ve got bakery people coming to give away French bread, pastries and it’ll all be at the end of the shopping trip.”

The store also plans to offer special prices with “phenomenal savings” like 98-cent Rockstar drinks.

“Nobody’s had those for years. It’s gonna be like old time pricing. We want to blow people’s minds with it.”

Cost Less is located at 1610 Hatch Road and is open 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. seven days a week.
