A 69-year-old man who was practice shooting at the Ceres Police Department’s firing range accidentally shot himself on Friday afternoon.
The man was treated for a non-life threatening wound to his upper thigh on the scene and rushed to an area hospital where he is in stable condition.
The shooting occurred at 2:40 p.m. and occurred when the man was returning his gun to his holster during a private firearms training class through Valley Defense, a private company which contracts with the city of Ceres to use the firearms range.
Ceres police and fire first-responders rushed to the scene along with American Medical Response paramedics.
