Two separate shed fires that broke out within one and a half hours of one another early Thursday kept Ceres station fire crews busy for a time.
The first fire was reported at 1:31 a.m. at 3417 Puma Way in Ceres as a residential working structure fire. The first unit that arrived found a fully engulfed shed fire in a family’s backyard which was threatening the home. Firefighters made quick work of extinguishing the fire and prevent it spreading to the home.
At 3:03 p.m. as Engine 15 was returning from the Puma Way fire, they came across another shed fire in the area of Tenth Street and Pyramid Avenue in Ceres with a triplex exposed to flames. That fire was quickly contained and most of the responding fire engines were canceled.
The Stanislaus County fire investigation unit is investigating both fires. Both sheds were located just one the other side of fences within reach of any potential arsonists.
