A 31-year-old Oakdale man sustained fatal injuries in a single-vehicle rollover crash on the Fourth of July on Hatch Road at Eastgate Boulevard.

Dying from his injuries sustained in the 8:25 p.m. crash was Benjamin Herning.

Ceres Police said that it appears that Herning was westbound on Hatch Road in a Honda CRV and attempting to pass multiple vehicles on the right at a high rate of speed when he lost control. The Honda veered off the north side of Hatch Road where it rolled multiple times. It is unknown if alcohol was a factor.

The Ceres Police Traffic Unit Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is investigating and asking any witnesses to the collision to provide information to Officer Michael Ferreira at 209-538-5700, extension 1038 or by emailing michael.ferreira@ci.ceres.ca.us.
