Free disposal offered to county residents

Residents of the unincorporated areas of Ceres will be able once again to dispose of trash and refuse items at the Stanislaus County Public Works Department Building, 1716 Morgan Road, on Nov. 4.

The event will take place from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Vehicles must be in line by 12:45 p.m. for last dump.

In continuation of his efforts to bring this service to every unincorporated community and cut down on illegal dumps within District 5, Supervisor Condit worked with County staff to identify funds to support the effort.

Not allowed to be dumped are the following items:

• Household hazardous wastes (HHW) such as cleaners, bleach, paint and other

• Chemicals (i.e. pool chemicals, pesticides, etc.);

• Automobile fluids, such as motor oil, antifreeze, and brake fluid;

• Explosives, such as fireworks;

• Any flammable liquid;

• Sealed 55-gallon barrels;

• Scrap tires;

• Lead-acid batteries (i.e. car batteries);

• Debris containing asbestos;

• Certain appliances that contain toxic chemicals, such as refrigerators, containing freon;

• Dead animals;

• Televisions; monitors, computers, batteries, copiers, fax machines, telephone,

• Fluorescent lights.

Please bag all loose trash.
