If you’re one for bargain hunting, mark Saturday, April 26 on your calendar. The city of Ceres Recreation Department will be hosting a special fundraising event that’s being billed as the Grandparents Garage Sale. The sale is being organized by seniors for the benefit of the Recreation Senior Donation fund for future events such as Senior Prom, themed luncheons and other activities in the next fiscal year.

The sale will take place inside the Ceres Community Center, 2701 Fourth Street from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. that day.

Shoppers may browse through second hand clothing, books, household items, and hidden gems.

The Recreation Department received a grant last September that allowed them to host free events geared towards older adults.

“We can’t just rely on others,” said active senior participant Shirley Rogers.  “We can fundraise ourselves.”

Due to spacing, donation drop off will only be accepted on Friday, April 25.
