MODESTO - Looking to usher in the New Year with a throng of people instead of the small house parties that you're used to?
Want an intimate atmosphere instead of the big city feel of popular New Years Eve destinations like San Francisco, Lake Tahoe or Las Vegas - where tens of thousands of people, if not more, cram themselves onto streets and into plazas to revel in spectacular fashion?
You're in luck.
If a good classy party is what you're looking for, Modesto has just the one for you to enjoy without having to travel or worry about the problems that come with massive holiday crowds.
Here are a few things going on just south of us for the New Year's Eve partying masses:
• DoubleTree Hotel - This is the one-stop shop for people looking to get away for the night and not have to worry about getting a designated driver or waiting for the Tipsy Tow service to come pick up you or your vehicle. Individual tickets for the DoubleTree's NYE 2016 Remix party are available, but so are packages that include a room and chips for the casino that is being offered as part of the festivities. A special dinner package at the popular Maxi's restaurant is also available for takers, as is a comedy show. This is all of the entertainment you'd ever need in one place, and if you're willing to shell out a little bit of money for convenience - general admission tickets are $60, and packages go up to over $500 for top-flight everything - you only have to make your way to downtown Modesto. For more information visit www.doubletreemodesto.com. 1150 9th Street.
• Clarion Inn - Looking for hot DJ's and dance-happy tracks? The fourth annual Fire and Ice New Year's Eve Party offers many of the same amenities as the hotel downtown but also provides a prime rib dinner to the mix. Overnight accommodations and breakfast the following morning are available. Music will be provided by Modesto's DJ Jason Gulley and The Valley Rhythm Section Band. More information can be found at www.fireandicenye.com. 1612 Sisk Road.
• Yosemite Lanes - How about finding something that the whole family can enjoy? Yosemite Lanes, located on Yosemite Boulevard offers up a chance for parents and children to both enjoy the holiday together. A fun night of cosmic-style bowling is topped off with sparkling apple cider to usher in a new year and new chances. 2307 Yosemite Blvd.
