Local shelter offers free pet adoptions
Thomas Mayfield Animal Shelter
Thomas Mayfield Animal Shelter operated by the Stanislaus Animal Services Agency.

Just in time for the holidays, the Stanislaus Animal Services Agency (SASA) is offering free adoption of all animals, including dogs, cats, rabbits and goats through Dec. 23.

The free adoption event, dubbed “Home for the Holidays,” is made possible by several generous and dedicated animal lovers.

«We are grateful for the support of the community and the individuals who have made ‘Home for the Holidays’ possible,” said Vaughn Maurice, the executive director of SASA. “This special adoption event not only brings joy to families but also helps alleviate the overcrowded conditions in our shelter. Every adoption makes a significant impact on the lives of these animals.”

Maurice said the timing is especially important as the shelter is currently facing crowded conditions. The facility in west Ceres is designed to safely accommodate 186 dogs, but the shelter is bursting at the seams with a count of 248 dogs in need of homes.

The free adoption package is comprehensive, covering essential services to ensure the well-being of the adopted pets. This includes spaying/neutering, vaccinations, and microchipping, providing new pet owners with a strong foundation for their furry companions.

SASA has a diverse range of dogs and cats, varying in sizes, ages, and playfulness, making it the perfect opportunity for individuals and families to find their ideal furry companion. Interested adopters may preview the available animals on SASA’s website at www.StanislausAnimalService.com or visit the shelter directly at 3647 Cornucopia Way in Modesto.
