Javier Lopez and Gary M. Condit will be the big spenders in the mayor’s race. Rosalinda Vierra, another challenger, has yet to report receiving campaign contributions.

Two of the three candidates for Ceres mayor have posted information about campaign donations above the $1,000 reporting threshold.

Candidates in California are required by the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) to file Form 497 within 24 hours after receiving donations of at least $1,000.

Gary M. Condit, a member of the politically connected Condit family, has received $10,000 in donations as reflected in his five 497s filed since Aug. 8. They include donations of:

• $1,000 from former Ceres Mayor Louis Arrollo;

• $1,000 from Kathleen Casey, a family friend and wife of Councilman James Casey;

• $2,000 from Jaymes Smith of Turlock;

• $1,000 from former county supervisor Paul Caruso;

• $2,500 from his brother’s Channce Condit’s  Supervisor 2028 campaign committee;

• $2,500 from his Uncle Buck Condit’s 2024 supervisorial campaign committee.

Mayor Javier Lopez filed Form 497 on Aug. 1 showing that Napa Farms LLC of Ceres donated $5,000 to his campaign.

Lopez also reported his campaign coffers received $16,137 in campaign contributions between Jan. 1 to June 30 this year in amounts of $1,000 or more. They include:

• $1,000 from M&M Land LLC of Turlock donated on Feb. 20.

• $2,000 donated to his own campaign on Feb. 27;

• $1,000 from Stronger Valley PAC on May 28;

• $5,500 from the Latino Political Action Committee based in Hughson.

• $1,000 from Bavaro Gingerich Employee Benefits & Insurance Services of Modesto

Some of Lopez’s expenditures include $3,000 to hire Stratcen, LLC of Modesto as a campaign consultant; and $2,582 for campaign literature; and $407 to Irene Ortiz’s Ground Up Productions for campaign consulting services; and $650 to Joel Rodriguez’s Aesthetic Studios of Ceres for campaign literature.

Mayoral candidate and Councilwoman Rosalinda Vierra reported not receiving any donations of $1,000 or more nor has she reported any contributions thus far.

In the District 3 Ceres City Council race, incumbent Bret Silveira is being challenged by Planning Commissioner Cerina Otero.

In August Silveira filed three Form 497 reports for donations of $1,000 apiece from Gary Baird of Oakdale, McFFA Local 1289 PAC of Modesto and Central Valley Hospice Care, Inc.

Silveira also reported receiving $3,250 from April 5 through June 30 from a variety of groups and individuals. They included: $250 from Try-Us Transportation, $255 from GB Truck Lines, Inc., $250 from White Hawk Carriers, $200 from S.K. Express, Inc., $500 from Bhatti Builders, $300 from Don Goudeau, $500 from Dan Costa of Modesto, $250 from brother John Silveira, $250 from Richard and Isabel McKay and $500 from Pattar Brokerage.

Otero collected $1,400 from April 4 to June 30, including: $1,000 from Gill Brothers, Inc. of Hilmar, $250 from the International Association of Machinists Local 1528 and $100 from Eva Marie Martinez of Salinas. She loaned her campaign $50.

Prior to Councilman Daniel Martinez learning that he had no opponents in the November election, he reported a $5,000 campaign donation by RT Financial Services of Ceres.
