A raging fire that consumed a motor home unit on Moore Road took the life of one adult Wednesday morning.

The fire broke out at approximately 9:24 a.m. in the 3000 block and a caller reported that one person was unaccounted for and possibly trapped inside. When the first of six fire engines arrived the motorhome was fully involved in flames in the backyard of a residence. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and searched the destroyed vehicle and found the adult victim.

The name of the victim, who has not been identified as male or female, has not been released by the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office pending notification of next of kin.

Crews remained on scene to assist the Stanislaus County Sheriff Department and the Fire Investigation Unit.

Keyes Fire Department also responded to the fire to assist Modesto Fire, which is contracted by the city of Ceres.
