New owners of Doghouse Tap Room introduce new events
Tony and Connie Escobedo Doghouse
Tony and Connie Escobedo participates in a Friday evening ceremonial ribbon cutting as the new owners of the Doghouse Tap Room in Ceres.

The new owners of the Doghouse Tap Room were officially welcomed to Ceres by the Chamber of Commerce during a Friday ribbon cutting ceremony.

Tony and Connie Escobedo purchased the business in December and reopened in January. They introduced themselves to the Ceres City Council at its meeting last week.

Tony Escobedo is a retired federal agent and a former radio station host and currently a DJ. Connie is a real estate agent in Modesto.

“We do have active and retired military and law enforcement that volunteer their time and work with us as beer tenders on weekends,” Escobedo told the council. “So we run a clean, safe establishment.”

The business features live and DJ music and closes at 11 p.m.

Besides serving beer and wine, Doghouse has been sponsoring special events like the upcoming Lucha Libre Wrestling event held outdoors on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 per adult and $10 for children. Past events have sold out.

Lucha libre (which means “free fight”), is a form of professional wrestling commonly associated with Mexico and known for its colorfully masked performers and aerial moves.

Doghouse is also hosting a large vinyl record sale event from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13. Over 10,000 records will be offered for sale.

The business was opened in March 2021 by Randy and Gena Beard.
