The pilot of a small plane sustained only minor injuries after his single-engine Cessna 180J slid off the runway of the Modesto City-County Airport Tuesday afternoon and flipped onto its top.

The crash occurred at 3:38 p.m.

By the time emergency personnel were on scene, pilot Simon Andrews and the solo occupant, was standing outside of his wrecked plane. He was evaluated by medical crews on scene. Andrews was seen wearing a bandage on his right hand.

Andrews had taken off from Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport in San Diego earlier and made his way to Modesto.

The plane is co-owned by Simon Andrews and Ruben Andrews of San Diego. Both are owners and principals of Graphic Solutions. The pilot is also a member of the Design Review Committee of the city of San Diego Parks and Recreation Board.

The cause for the crash is under investigation.
