Read to a dog, tips on growing backyard fruit trees, coming to the Ceres Library November

The Ceres Library will offer a variety of arts and crafts, literacy and family fun events throughout November.

All branches of the county library will be closed on Monday, Nov. 11 for Veterans Day and on Nov. 28-29 for Thanksgiving.

Dungeons & Dragons games will be offered for teens at the library on the second Monday of each month from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Suggested ages for playing at 13 to 18.

Bilingual Story Time is offered at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7. Young ones are invited to stick around for the 11 a.m. “Wee Move & Play” activities.

An apple print wreath craft event is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7.

Independent readers up to age 12 are invited to practice their reading skills with the special Read to a Dog program at the Ceres Library this Saturday, Nov. 9 from noon to 1 p.m. The program is designed to help children gain confidence in their reading skills by reading aloud to certified therapy dogs. Space is limited and registration is required at the library or by calling 209-537-8938.

LEGO play for kids is offered at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14. Children under 4 are welcome, but must have direct parental supervision.

The UCCE Master Gardeners of Stanislaus County will be at the library at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 18 to talk about backyard fruit trees. Attendees to this lecture can learn how to grow and keep deciduous trees (apples, apricots, plums, pears, peaches, and cherries) short (four to five feet tall) so they can easily prune, pick fruit and care for your trees while enjoying a plentiful amount of fruit.

A Stranger Teens craft project to build jar snow globes will be the activity on Monday, Nov. 18 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Kids and teens can work to build 3-D paper umbrellas at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21. 

The Ceres Library is located at 2250 Magnolia Street in Ceres.
