Members of the Ceres Rotary Club and staff of the Ceres Unified School District had fun recently when they read a favorite children’s book to students as part of the annual Ceres Rotary Read-In.

Since 1991, hundreds of community members have participated in the annual Read-In, sharing the joy of reading and donating thousands of books to elementary school libraries in the Ceres.

The readers visited two classrooms at a school to read a book and left it with the teacher who added it to the school library collection.

Among those who read stories was Reid Volk, CUSD’s coordinator of Educational Options, who took “Are You Sure, Mother Bear?” written by Amy Hest. Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services Dan Pangrazio read to a class as did former Central Valley High School Principal Carol Lubinsky. The next superintendent of the district, Amy Peterman, read “Pluto! Not a Planet? Not a Problem?” Dr. Kristi Britton, CUSD’s assistant superintendent of Business Services, read and donated “The Big Cheese” by Jory John and Pete Oswald.
