To coincide with Women's History Month, the Soroptimist International of Ceres hosted its Women of Distinction event on March 20.
After a welcome by President Carol Nelson Staley, invocation by Marilyn Wyatt and introductions by Denise Wickham, Walter White Elementary School Assistant Principal Edith Rodriquez gave remarks as the guest speaker.
The presentation of awards included the following awards and recipients:
• Sorrayar Sounthala, who recently was honored with the Distinguished Young Women pageant;
• Cindia Julsgard who received the Ruby Award (Women Helping Women);
• Marlen Diaz, recipient of the Violet Richardson Award;
• Victoria Boyington, who recently received the Women's Opportunity Award.
Recognition was also given during the meeting to Casey Moving Systems which was selected as the Ceres Chamber of Commerce's "Business of the Year"; E.R. Vine & Sons, which was honored recently with the Ceres Chamber of Commerce Legacy Award; "S" Club advisers Angela Durossette of Ceres High School and Veronica Villa at Central Valley High; and special recognition for Eric Ingwerson and Elon Rentz who has been a member of Soroptimists for 45 years.
