Central Valley High School student Yurianna Garcia was honored by the Soroptimist International of Ceres as its “Girl of the Month” during its meeting held April 16 at Alfonso’s Mexican Restaurant.
School officials say Garcia is an exceptional young woman whose dedication to academics, leadership, and community service truly sets her apart. She currently holds an impressive 4.6 GPA while enrolled in multiple Advanced Placement courses, demonstrating her strong commitment to academic excellence.
Yurianna is enrolled in the Police Procedures class and recently competed in Occupational Olympics, where she earned third place.
Earlier this month, she traveled to Southern California to participate in the SkillsUSA State Competition in Police Procedures where she placed third in the state level, considered a remarkable accomplishment.
Garcia is an explorer with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department, volunteering her time to serve and support the community.
Her passion for service also shines on campus, where she is actively involved in Warrior Organization for Women Empowerment (WOWE), serving as treasurer and previously holding an officer position. Through WOWE, she has helped organize and participate in service projects and drives benefitting the women of Ceres.
She is also a member of the AP Spanish Literature Club, the National Honor Society, the Criminal Justice Club, and serves as the co-president of the CVHS Book Club.
In her spare time, she volunteers at the Ceres Library; ran the Modesto Marathon where she placed third in her age division; is a talented folklórico dancer to represent her culture; and recently volunteered at the Denim & Diamonds Fundraiser as a server, showcasing her generosity and school pride.
Garcia has received acceptance letters from several prestigious universities including U.C. Davis, U.C. Merced, U.C. Irvine but has committed to UC Berkeley, where she plans to pursue a degree in Psychology with aspirations of attending law school to become a lawyer.
Officials at Central Valley High praised Garcia as a kind, hardworking, and ambitious student who approaches every opportunity with energy and enthusiasm. They called her an outstanding role model and a tremendous representative of Central Valley High School.
