Bill Ledbetter

Bill Ledbetter, 84, of Ceres, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at 5:33 p.m.
Born on Sept. 30, 1939 in Sacramento, Bill was the son of William and Hester Ledbetter. As a child he moved to Keyes in 1946 with his parents and his sister Betty. He attended schools in Keyes and Turlock. During his high school years he met Mavis Shewbart while attending Assembly of God Church in Keyes. In 1958 they married in the same church. They lived in Keyes for the first 14 years of marriage where they had their four children. In 1972 they moved to Ceres, where they had built some rental units, and then a new family home. Bill also worked as a drywall contractor, and opened Bill’s Drywall Sales, that is still open today. In his later years he also became an almond grower.
Bill and Mavis were married for 64 years before the passing of Mavis in 2023.
Bill leaves behind four children, daughter Pamela Sexton, and sons Steve Ledbetter, Darrell Ledbetter, and Michael Ledbetter; four grandchildren, Amy, Heather, Jordan and Colton; two step-grandchildren, Jessica and Jesse; and nine great-grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents William and Hester Ledbetter, and wife Mavis.
Services begin with a viewing on Monday, March 25, 2024 from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Franklin & Downs Chapel, 2561 Fifth Street, Ceres.
Church services will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Haven of Hope (formerly Keyes Assembly of God), 5450 7th Street, Keyes, followed by a graveside service at 12 noon at Ceres Memorial Park, located at 1801 E. Whitmore Ave., Ceres.
