A graveside service will be held at Ceres Memorial Park at 3:30 p.m. today (Wednesday) for Clarence Eugene "Gene" Poindexter, 68, of Ceres. He died Oct. 31, 2008.
Born Jan. 30 1940, Gene grew up on the Whitmore Ranches in Ceres where he was involved in working with agriculture. Mr. Poindexter was also avid cartoonist and drew a weekly cartoon that once appeared in the Ceres Courier. His talents garnered him some prestigious awards for his cartooning in the Bay area. He was an active member of Sunrise Christian Church in Modesto where he served as volunteer bookkeeper for many years.
Mr. Poindexter leaves behind his daughter, Alexandra Jane Poindexter; and his parents, Stub Poindexter and Beatrice McDonald Poindexter.
