A Mass was held Friday at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Ceres for Genoveva Martinez Horta, 71, of Bakersfield. She died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004 at Mercy Hospital.
Burial was at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery in Modesto under the direction of Allen Mortuary.
Born Jan. 3, 1933, Mrs. Horta was a native of Michoacn, Mexico, and lived in Bakersfield for four months. She previously lived in Keyes for a year. Mrs. Horta was a homemaker, and enjoyed reading the Bible.
She leaves behind her husband, Jose Horta of Bakersfield; nine children, Manuel Horta and Victoria Garcia, both of Bakersfield, Angel P. Horta and J. Carlos Horta, both of Keyes, Jose L. Horta of Modesto, J. Jesus Horta and Angel M. Horta, both of Mexico, Eva Paiz of Chicago and Rosa Lopez of San Pedro; three brothers, Luis Martinez of Mexico, and Eduviges Martinez and Fileciano Martinez, both of California; sisters, Ester Martinez of Nevada, Inez Martinez of California and Solidada Martinez of Mexico; and 25 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
