Jesse Angel Jr.
August 16, 1960 – April 9, 2023
Jesse Angel Jr., 62, of Livingston, passed away on April 9, 2023 surrounded by all of his family, after a long battle with lung disease.
Jesse was born on August 16, 1960 to Jesus and Guadalupe in La Yacata, Michoacan, Mexico. When Jesse was a young boy the family moved to El Reparito. When he wasn’t in school, Jesse spent time with his brothers hunting with homemade slingshots, swimming in rivers and ponds, riding burros and mules and fishing with homemade bows and arrows. He spent a lot time helping his father and grandfather operate their ranch. He excelled in milking, ranching and doctoring cattle with his sidekick, a dog named Zepeleen. Jesse, along with his family, moved to the Central Valley in 1976.
Jesse’s love of agriculture led him to many business opportunities. He started selling firewood as a side business when he was working for a local farmer. The firewood sales would become his first career. From there he was purchased his own ranch where he farmed almonds. He expanded his firewood business into Angel Farms Ag Services where he did many things but specialized in orchard removal as well as grinding.
In 1980, Jesse met Mary Ann in Modesto. Jesse and Mary Ann went on to have four children, Diane, Jesse, Andrea, and Stephanie.
Jesse had a passion to work and prosper in life. He worked hard to support his family, as an Angel tradition which was founded by his father, Jesus. Jesse had since passed this trait onto his children. Jesse never fully retired, even while ill. He spent the last couple years of life enjoying his days with his partner, Sandra, and spending as much time as he could watching his granddaughter Raelynn grow.
He is survived by his mother, Guadalupe; his four children, Diane (Arnaldo) Angel-Gomez, Jesse (Krystal) Angel, Andrea (James) Angel-Oliver and Stephanie Angel; his granddaughter, Raelynn Angel; his significant other, Sandra; his four brothers, Joseph (Leti), Isaac, Tony (Norma) and Lupe (Barbara); as well as nieces and nephews, Nadine (Jose) Castillo, Ryan, Alex, Jody, Diego, Paola, Krystian and Yulianna Angel. Jesse was preceded in death by his father Jesus, and Su Tio David of whom he looked up to, and was inspired to be like.
A viewing will be held at Wilson Funeral Home, 525 W. 20th Street, Merced from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 20. A Rosary will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 1799 Winton Way, Atwater at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 21 with a Funeral Mass to follow at 10 a.m. Burial at Winton Cemetery District will follow.
He will be forever in our hearts and missed by so many.
