John Darcey Hance

John Darcey Hance passed away suddenly on Oct. 9, 2024 at his home in Ceres at the age of 72.

John was born on September 26, 1952 in Patterson, Calif., to his parents, Lloyd Herman Hance and Stella Laura Kaskey. John had been a resident of Ceres for most of his life.

John had an extraordinary way of making people feel loved and important. He had a sense of humor that was infectious. Whether he was telling a story, cracking a joke or offering words of wisdom, his warmth and kindness made him a friend to all.

John leaves behind his loving wife of 50 years, Beverly Hance; his children, Sherry Knapp, Stacey Hance Garroutte and Seth Hance; his grandchildren, Thomas Voigt, Lily Knapp, Luke Knapp, Beverly Love Hance, Sophie Knapp, Seth Hance II, Ryan Hance and Bradley Hance along with his great granddaughter, Nova Voigt. John also leaves behind his brother, Phillip Hance.

John was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Karen Sauermilch.

Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, October 17th from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Franklin & Downs Ceres Chapel, 2561 Fifth Street in Ceres, followed by a graveside service at 12:30 p.m. at Ceres Memorial Park. A reception for friends and family will follow at the Tuolumne River Lodge.
