Arrangements have been made for Robert "Bob" Granville Bozarth, 88, of Ceres. He died Aug. 25, 2009 peacefully at his home surrounded by his children and loving caretakers, Brenda and Alise.
The scattering of Bob's ashes will be a closed family affair.
Born Sept. 15, 1920, Bob was born on Sept. 15, 1920 in Modesto to Clinton and Agnes Bozarth. He attended Jones Elementary School and Ceres High School where he graduated in 1938. Bob then went on to U.C. Davis to earn his degree in dairy industry with honors. He worked for two years in the university's creamery where he made cheese, ice cream, butter and other milk products before returning back to the Westport area family farm. He worked with his father on their Grade A Dairy for over 26 years. After the death of his parents, Bob converted the farm into almond orchards, which he operated in partnership with son Roger Bozarth. Bob lived his entire life on Vivian Road working the family farm.
He raised raised three children, Anna, David and Roger, with wife Johnie. He was known by many in the community and participated in many community functions: president of the Westport Elementary School Board, president of the Square Dance Association, member of Guide Dogs of America volunteer and more.
Mr. Bozarth was an avid square dancer for over 40 years with Johnie and then his second wife Virginia. He enjoyed traveled with the "Let's Go" group, the Bay Area Gypsys and Vogue Travel Clubs. Bob enjoyed summers in Campbell River British Columbia salmon fishing and spending winters Mesa, Arizona. He will be known by family members for his waffles, nectarine cobblers and homemade ice cream.
He leaves behind his children, Roger Bozarth and David Bozarth, both of Modesto, Anna Hogan of Yorba Linda; and his step-daughter, Karen Schooler of Arizona. He was preceded in death by wives Johnie and Virginia, and brother Wayne.
