A funeral service was held Wednesday at Salas Brothers Funeral Home for Steve Jackson Ford, 92, of Hughson. He died Aug. 19, 2011.
Born July 11, 1919, Steve was born in Garfield, Ark., to Jack and Sue Ford. He told stories of playing on the Pea Ridge Civil War battlefield finding artifacts or plowing them up on the family farm. His dad was a blacksmith and raised sugar cane. Mr. Ford retired from Stanislaus County Parks Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping as well as spending time with his grandchildren.
He was survived by his wife of nine years, Jerry Ford of Hughson; three children, Stan Ford, Steve Ford and Mary Ford; and six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Lucille Ford.
