Jesus worth celebrating
letter

Editor, Ceres Courier,

Nearly 800 years before the birth of Jesus Christ, God inspired Isaiah to write: “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulders: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end…” (Isaiah 9:6-7) That is amazing, beyond understanding … the prophecy of Christ’s birth. In Matthew 1: 21, the Bible states: “And she [Mary] shall bring forth a son, and thou shall call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.” That brings wonder to why we celebrate Jesus Christ at Christmas.

Jesus spoke like no man ever spoke. He spoke of everlasting life; yet we see people die. In John 3:16 he said “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” To complement that, Jesus said: “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?”

The Bible declares – through belief in Jesus Christ people are saved from eternal death. He came to pay our sin debt – on the cross at Calvary. That is love! He is worth celebrating!
