Propaganda broadcasts don’t reflect reality
letter

Editor, Ceres Courier,

CBS Weekend anchor Jericka Duncan closed a recent broadcast with, “Hopefully all the children got exactly what they wanted for Christmas.”

Unless you and your colleagues were born blind, dumb, and deaf, you know that what is happening in poor and minority areas of America, let alone under the rubble and in the streets of Gaza, Sudan, or Ukraine is the opposite of what kids want.

Kids want happiness, belonging, friends, achievement, two parents, a warm and safe bed, food, clothing, health . . . do you get the picture, Jericka? And they rarely get any of it, whether before, during, or after Christmas, except in propaganda broadcasts like yours that don’t reflect reality.

Tomorrow night you are going to be telling parents, “It’s a wonderful life,” or “May all your days be merry and bright,” or “If you wish upon a star . . . ” I get it, though, you don’t care how ridiculous you sound as long as you get your paycheck.
