Ceres High cruised to a 21-stroke victory over Central Valley in varsity boys golf on Tuesday, April 1 at River Oaks Golf Course.
The Bulldogs won the VOL showdown 213-234.
"Every win we get against Central Valley is special because we're intra-city rivals," Ceres High coach Scott Smith said.
The Bulldogs competed without two normal starters, including No. 2 player Carter Silveira and No. 3 Jesse Trejo.
Ceres High's lineup featured Kyle Cerny, Ron Fry, David DeMers, Christian Rotondo and Vince Tomao.
Cerny earned low-medalist honors with a 7-over-par 38. The sophomore had three pars, five bogeys and one double bogey.
"He's my most improved player this year," Smith said. "He's hitting the ball straighter."
Fry shot a 41. The senior had two pars, five bogeys, one double bogey and one triple bogey.
DeMers shot a 44. The junior had one par, three bogeys and five double bogeys.
Rotondo and Tomao carded identical scores of 45.
Vince, a freshman, had one birdie, two bogeys and five double bogeys.
Christian, a junior, had six bogeys, two double bogeys and one quadruple bogey.
"The kids that don't usually play (DeMers and Rotondo) did okay," Smith said.
Alex Stavrianoudakis led the Hawks with a 9-over-par 40. Freddy Rodriguez fired a 43. Alex Morales and Sean McKee had 48s. William Woodard rounded out Central Valley's scorecard by posting a 55.
