The Cowell family of Ceres has reason to be excited.

Brothers Cade and Chance were both called up to United States Men’s National Soccer Team September training camps.

“It’s been a very exciting week at the house,” father Debin said. “It’s pretty wild. We’re so blessed. It’s very humbling. Our kids sacrificed a lot to be where they’re at. It’s a huge accomplishment. It’s a testament to how hard they’ve been working. We just wanted them to go to college, play soccer and get an education.”

“Just for one of us to go is such an honor but for both of us it feels super special,” 20-year-old Cade stated. “It’s something so rare to see. I’m sure our family is very proud.”

“We’ve both worked hard and have given up a lot of our childhoods to chase our dreams and this is just validation that we’re doing the right things,” said Chance, who turned 16 in July.

Cade was added to the Senior United States’ Team Training Camp roster on Sept. 5. He contributed at forward as the Americans tied New Zealand 1-1 on Sept. 10 in Cincinnati and lost 2-1 to Canada on Sept. 7 in Kansas City during international-friendly play.

Chance joined the United States’ U-17 Team for the upcoming Jezek Cup in the Czech Republic. The Americans faced Germany on Sept. 4, the Czech Republic on Sept. 6, and Slovakia on Sept. 8. He collected two assists while contributing at right winger as U.S. compiled a 1-1-1 record.

“It’s always a blessing to add more and more games with your national team,” Cade said. “You never know when you will get to go back or when your last game will be so I cherish every camp and use that as motivation that I need to prove something every time.”

“I am pleased with the way I played,” Chance added. “I was on a minute restriction because I’m coming back from an injury and am not fully fit yet but I was happy with the minutes I got.”

Cade has earned 10 caps with the U.S. Men’s Senior National Team, making his debut in a friendly against Bosnia and Herzegovina in December of 2021. He represented the U.S. in the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup, where he made five appearances and scored his first goal at the senior international level in a 6-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago.

Cade has also represented the U.S. at the U-16, U-17, U-20, and U-23 levels. He played with the U.S. U-20 National Team in the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup, leading the squad with three goals and helping Team USA reach the quarterfinals.

A dual national, Chance has represented the U.S. at U-15, U-16 and U-17 levels as well as Mexico at the U-15 level, scoring two goals with the latter country.

“Obviously, we’re both excited and happy for each other,” Chance said. “It’s fun to watch him and he’s always logging in online and watching my games. We’re usually in different countries but we find a way to support each other and text a lot during the week.”

Cade plays professional soccer in Mexico for Chivas de Guadalajara in the Liga MX League.

He earned Player of the Month honors for July.

Cade was recognized for scoring three goals and dishing out one assist during Chivas’ first four matches of the 2024-25 season.

“Individually, I just want to help the team as much as I can with goals and assists,” Cade said.

Chivas acquired Cade from the San Jose Earthquakes of Major League Soccer (MLS) in January of 2024.

He spent five seasons with the Earthquakes.

A Homegrown Player, Cowell signed a first-team contract with San Jose in January of 2019.

The Quakes Academy product collected 10 goals and 15 assists in 104 appearances.

Cade set numerous age-specific Earthquakes records during his tenure.

Chance made his professional debut at the age of 16 with The Town FC, the San Jose Earthquakes’ Major League Soccer NEXT Pro reserve team, in August.

“It’s a small step in the right direction for my development,” he said.

Chance is the youngest player on the team.

“I’m very thankful for everyone that has taken me under their wing and helped me throughout the time I have been there,” Chance said.

Chance signed a contract with the San Jose Earthquakes at the age of 14 on May 4, 2023.

“I’m walking the path of a pro right now,” he stated. “I’m really blessed.”
