Mae Hensley Jr. High’s wrestling program had nine individuals place at its second annual Mayhem Tournament on March 16 in Ceres.

“I’m very happy with how we did,” Warriors’ leader Cecil Cervantez said. “As a coach, I couldn’t ask for anything more.”

The Warriors had one individual champion in Federico Parra.

Xander Hernandez and Erin Hawthorne both placed second.

Mikaela Canchola, Cayden Jantz and Arturo Estrada all took third.

Jeremy Godwin and Tyler Krepela finished fourth.

Tommy Kluver was fifth.

“That was the last tournament of the year,” Cervantez said. “We did decent. As a team, we didn’t place. Individually, we did pretty well. I saw a lot of growth this season. We had our good days and bad days as expected because most of the kids were first-year wrestlers.”

A total of 185 grapplers from 17 different schools competed at Mayhem tourney.
