The Downey Knights edged the Ceres High JV volleyball team in three games, 26-24, 17-25, 15-8, in Modesto on Thursday.
"This is the best they've played in three weeks," said Ceres coach Kassi Baker. "They were covering. They were blocking. They were doing what they were supposed to do."
Kaylee Brown had three aces, seven kills and four blocks, Kristen McClure had three aces, four kills and four blocks, Jamie Boling had one ace, five kills and six blocks and Myrna Cadenas had one ace, five kills and one block for the Bulldogs, who fell to 5-9 in the Modesto Metro Conference.
Ceres' Kyleesha Williams had two blocks and one kill. Deepi Sidhu had two aces and one kill. Allison Hibbard had one ace.
