Ceres High competed against the Johansen Vikings in a dual cross country meet on Wednesday.
"Everybody that ran did a great job," said Ceres coach Glenn Driskell.
In the girls race, Ceres High placed five runners in the top 10 in defeating Johansen 22-33 on the 3.12-mile course at Legion-Tuolumne River Regional Park.
With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 1-1 in the Modesto Metro Conference.
Karrah Brown finished first in a field of 25 in 20 minutes, 11 seconds.
Nicole Laranjo finished third in 22:28.
Nichole Alvarez finished fourth in 22:32.
Heather Jones finished fifth in 22:44.
Vicki Morales finished ninth in 23:52.
Katie Lutes (24:47), Melanie Casey (25:40) and Laura Morales (26:14) finished 11th, 12th and 14th, respectively, for the Bulldogs.
Johansen's Kayla Pierce (20:27), Jamie Ringler (22:57), Annabelle Martinez (23:30), Emily Goodwin (23:37) and Andrea Riley (24:32) finished second, sixth, seventh, eighth and 10th, respectively.
In the boys race, Johansen posted a 24-31 victory against Ceres on the 3-mile course at East La Loma Park.
The Bulldogs placed five runners in the top 10.
"They did the best that they could do," said Driskell, whose team fell to 0-2 in the league standings.
Benny Perez placed first in a field of 15 in 17:50. For the second week in a row, his time dropped considerably.
"The first time he broke 18 minutes," Driskell said. "We're really happy with that."
Jordan Gonzalez placed third in 17:59.
Alex Torres, Henry Shamoeil and Andrew Chipponeri all set personal records.
Torres placed eighth in 18:59.
"He broke 19 minutes for the first time," Driskell said.
Henry Shamoeil (19:32) and Andrew Chipponeri (19:33) placed ninth and 10th, respectively.
"They had never broken 21 minutes," Driskell said.
Matt Schwark (20:36), Ramsey Magana (20:36) and Chad Hurt (24:34) finished 12th, 13th and 15th, respectively, for the Bulldogs.
