Ceres High’s and Central Valley’s boys volleyball programs had a combined four players earn all-league honors this spring.

Bulldog senior Andre Pina was selected to the Western Athletic Conference Second Team.

An outside hitter, Pina led Ceres High in kills.

He was a three-year varsity starter.

“Andre should have made First Team,” Bulldogs’ leader Kelly Heese said. “He brought a lot to our team. He was consistent in his hitting. He was our go-to player on the court. He’s a very, talented young man.”

Ceres High juniors Gio Sio and Manuel Ortega were honorable-mention selections.

Sio, an outside hitter, ranked second on the team in kills and digs.

“He matured a lot,” Heese said. “A lot of it was mental. I’m excited to see how he does next year.”

Ortega, a middle blocker, ranked third on the team in kills.

“He grew leaps and bounds this year,” Heese said. “That kid was hitting the ball so hard.”

Hawk senior Wasu Yang was a Central California Conference honorable-mention selection.
