The Bulldogs claimed the Ceres Classic perpetual trophy with a 36-7 win over the Hawks in front of a sold-out crowd on Nov. 1 at CUSD Stadium.
Ceres High generated a season-high 393 yards of total offense versus Central Valley.
Bulldog High quarterback Kyle Phongsa totaled 184 yards, two touchdowns and one interception while completing 12 of 18 pass attempts.
Reis Smith caught six passes for 122 yards and one touchdown.
Daniel Davis caught four passes for 41 yards and one touchdown.
Michael Solis ran for 63 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries.
Manny Mendoza rushed for 73 yards and one touchdown on 11 carries.
Hawk quarterback Edgar Peralta completed 5 of 11 passes for 72 yards before exiting the game with an injury in the third quarter.
All-purpose player Cesar Pimentel finished 1-for-1 passing with 51 yards and one touchdown and hauled in four passes for 67 yards.
Antonio Burgos caught two passes for 56 yards and one touchdown.
Solis led Ceres High’s defense with 15 tackles.

Clinging to a slim 7-0 lead at halftime, Ceres High seized the momentum by outscoring Central Valley 29-0 during the middle periods.
A year removed from suffering a 34-8 loss, the Bulldogs exacted revenge this fall by dominating the Hawks.
Girls Flag Football
Ceres High continued its run of success against Central Valley.
The Bulldogs improved their all-time, head-to-head record versus the Hawks to 3-0 with a 43-20 victory on Senior Night at CUSD Stadium on Oct. 23.
Ceres High’s Maddie Schultz totaled 347 yards and six touchdowns while starring at quarterback against Central Valley.
Mariah Renteria led Ceres High’s receiving corps with 56 yards and two touchdowns.
Lilly Staggs had 86 yards and one touchdown.
Sovannary Carter had 63 yards and one touchdown.
Savannah Leifried had 54 yards and one touchdown.
Central Valley freshman quarterback Addisyn Prudhel passed for 174 yards and two touchdowns. She also rushed for 28 yards on five carries.
Airieana Martinez led the Hawks’ receiving corps with 66 yards and two touchdowns on four receptions.
Freshman Ayleen Apreza caught four passes for 51 yards and one touchdown and ran for 59 yards and one TD on two carries.
Central Valley battled Ceres High for two-plus quarters for the second time this season.
The Bulldogs pulled away for a 36-12 victory over the host Hawks on Sept. 30.
Girls Volleyball
Ceres High and Central Valley defended their home courts while facing off twice this season.
The Bulldogs won the first meeting versus the Hawks by a score of 3-1 (19-25, 26-24, 25-20, 25-23) in WAC play on Sept. 30 at Phil de la Porte Gymnasium.
Priya Martinez led Ceres High with 19 assists, three aces and two kills.
Genesis Sio had 11 kills and one ace.
Kamea Brown had 10 digs, two aces and one kill.
The Bulldogs won the final three sets to secure the victory.
Ceres High bounced back after dropping the first set.
The Hawks exacted revenge with a 3-2 (14-25, 19-25, 25-19, 26-24, 15-12) home victory over the Bulldogs on Senior Night on Oct. 23.
Central Valley stunned Ceres High by battling back from a two-sets-to-none deficit.
Julyanna Valencia led the Hawks with 13 digs, four assists and two aces against the Bulldogs during the rematch.

Boys Water Polo
Three weeks removed from losing 14-8 to Ceres High, Central Valley’s boys water polo team exacted revenge during the rematch.
The Hawks spoiled the Bulldogs’ Senior Night with a 17-15 double-overtime victory in front of a large crowd on Oct. 23.
Central Valley’s Phillip Esparza tallied a game-high eight goals against Ceres High.
Caleb Beckhart added three goals.
Nick DeLeon and Ari Luman both scored two goals.
Ezekiel Castorena had one goal.
Bulldog Abel Samaniego tallied a team-high seven goals versus the Hawks.
Zalan Arvai added three goals.
Jonas Hayes and Rowan Ramirez both scored two goals.
Jaxon Merrill had one goal.
Competitive from start to finish, Central Valley outlasted Ceres High in thrilling fashion during the rematch.

Ceres High’s Layla Abraham and Jessie Blevins both scored a team-high six goals versus Central Valley.

Eva Onzurez, Jennifer Sasser and Heaven Vasquez all contributed one goal.
Sophomore Lilyanna Madrigal accounted for all seven of the Hawks’ goals.
Central Valley trailed 8-4 at halftime.
The Hawks were outscored 9-3 the rest of the match.
Ceres High and Central Valley faced off for the first time on Sept. 30. The visiting Bulldogs led from start to finish in defeating the Hawks by a score of 21-11.
Ceres High’s Kaylie Clindaniel poured in a game-high 12 goals versus Central Valley.
Abraham and Onsurez had four and three goals, respectively.
Madrigal scored a team-high nine goals for the Hawks.

Boys Cross Country
The Bulldogs won a pair of WAC cluster meets against the Hawks.
Ceres High outscored Central Valley 168-200 during the WAC’s second cluster meet of the season on Oct. 2 at O’Neill Forebay.
Sergio Torres led Ceres High. He took 18th with a time of 18 minutes, 31 seconds on the 3-mile course.
Frankie Klino led Central Valley. He took 30th with a time of 19:08.
Ceres High and Central Valley re-established their rivalry in the sport on Sept. 11 at Ceres River Bluff Regional Park.
The Bulldogs outscored the Hawks, 168-216.
Girls Golf
The Bulldogs edged the Hawks by just six strokes, 184-190, in conference play on Sept. 24 at St. Stanislaus.
