Ceres High’s varsity girls tennis team secured a berth to the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs during the final week of the regular season.
“We deserved it after all the time we dedicated to the sport,” No. 1 singles player Tania Garfias said.
“It was definitely a goal of ours,” No. 2 singles player Jillian Jimenez added. “We did work really hard.”
The third-place Bulldogs (9-5) finished ahead of Beyer, Johansen, Lathrop, Pacheco and Grace Davis in the WAC standings.
Mountain House and Los Banos took first and second, respectively.

Ceres High qualified for the postseason with a 9-0 win at Grace Davis on Oct. 23.
The Bulldogs swept all six singles and three doubles matches during their shutout victory over the Spartans.
