Central Valley remained in fifth place following its domination of Johansen and loss to Livingston.

The Bulldogs will claim their third straight WAC championship if they win out and second-place Beyer knocks off first-place Livingston.

“I’m hoping we can get first,” Ceres High senior pitcher Alize Cole said.

“I don’t think anybody is satisfied with where we’re at,” Hawks’ head coach Jimmy Bates said. “I really believe in our ability. We’re very young. We have seven underclassmen on our varsity team. I have to get the girls confident in themselves”

Ceres High improved to 14-7 overall and 10-2 in the WAC standings with a 17-0 mercy-rule victory over Grace Davis on April 16 in Ceres.

The sixth-place Spartans dropped to 4-14 and 2-10.

“We played as a team again,” Cole said. “We’re having a lot of fun.”

Cole filled a major role in helping Ceres High secure its sixth straight victory.

She gave up no runs and three hits with eight strikeouts and two walks in five innings.

“I was hitting my spots,” she said.

Cole received plenty of runs support.
