Lebron Stallworth shined in multiple sports during his senior year at Ceres High School.
Stallworth’s outstanding play earned him invitations to a pair of all-star games.
“I’m very appreciative of the nominations,” he said. “It’s a testament to the hard work I put in.”
Stallworth represented the Bulldogs for the final time in football this past weekend.
The 6-foot-4 190-pound defensive end helped lead the South team to a 38-13 win against the North team at the 47th Lions All-Star Football Game on Saturday at Tracy High School.
“It was a really fun experience,” he said. “Highly competitive. High intensity. It feels good to cap it (prep football career) off with a win.”
Stallworth had five tackles, two sacks, two tackles for loss, two pass deflections and one quarterback pressure.
“I felt like I represented Ceres High School well,” he said. “I competed at a high level against high competition.”
Stallworth and his South teammates practiced at Gregori High School leading up to the game.
Grace Davis’ Tim Garcia Jr. and Oakdale’s Trent Merzon served as co-head coaches.
Garcia was Central Valley High School’s first-ever head varsity football coach. The Hawks amassed a 19-41 overall record and 10-29 mark in conference play under Garcia’s guidance.
“I enjoyed building relationships with different guys I used to compete against,” he said. “We had a good week of practice. I felt like I stayed in decent shape. I wasn’t too winded.”
Ceres High teammates Tarrell Lee-Gill and Kahmi Smith both received invitations to the Lions All-Star Game. Lee-Gill and Smith decided not to play for various reasons.
“A lot of people wanted to see all three of us participate in the game,” said Smith, a first-team, all-WAC linebacker. “I do feel I let a couple people down. But I did what was in my best interest. I got to get ready for college.”
Lee-Gill, MVP of the WAC, had a busy schedule.
He also didn’t want to risk getting hurt.
“That played a role in me not playing,” Lee-Gill said. “It would have been a good experience. But the goal is to play at the next level.”
Stallworth played in the 6 County All-Star Basketball Classic on April 29 at Modesto Junior College.
He totaled four points while starting at forward.
Stallworth suited up for the Red Team, which lost to the Blue Team.
Stallworth earned seven varsity letters during his prep athletic career, including three in basketball, and two in both football and track and field.
He was named Ceres High’s Bulldog Male Athlete of the Year for 2022-23.
Stallworth earned first-team, all-WAC honors during his final season of football.
He had 33 tackles, two sacks, five quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and four pass deflections.
Stallworth had a cumulative grade-point average of 3.7.
“I’ve always been a really good student,” he said. “At an early age, my mom stressed education was important.”
