Ceres High’s varsity girls tennis team had its Western Athletic Conference title hopes dashed by Los Banos this past week.

The host Tigers avenged a 7-2 loss with a 6-3 win over the Bulldogs on Oct. 10.

Los Banos moved into a tie for second place in the WAC Ceres High.

The Bulldogs and Tigers had identical 10-2 records as of Tuesday morning. 

First-place Mountain House maintains a two-game lead over Ceres High and Los Banos in the conference standings.

Ceres High managed to win just two of six singles and one of three doubles matches during it second meeting with Los Banos.

Shania Evans topped Trinity Meza 7-5, 7-5 in No. 2 singles play.

Tania Garfias topped Ally Watkins 6-4, 6-3 in No. 4 singles play.

Vivian Moreno lost 6-2, 6-2 to Kierstyn Cotta in No. 1 singles play.

Camille Vega lost 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 to Sarah White in No. 3 singles play.

Gurmen Bahia lost 6-3, 7-6 to Laila Medina in No. 5 singles play.

Morgan Bejaran lost 6-3, 6-2 to Petrina Gilardi in No. 6 singles play.

Jillian Jimenez and Christel Ontiveros topped Bianca Rocha and Jaylen Meza 6-4, 6-3 in No. 1 doubles play.

Jasmine Bahia and Monica Esparza lost 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 to Mia Cruz and Erin Vierra in No. 2 doubles play.

Elena Ochoa and Gurmannet Bahia lost 6-2, 5-7, 7-6 to Elle Bachelder and Vicki Paolini in No. 3 doubles play.

Ceres High defeated visiting Pacheco 8-1 on Oct. 8.

The Bulldogs swept all six singles matches.

Moreno topped Xitlaly Gomez 6-3, 6-0 in No. 1 singles play.

Evans topped Anarosa Velasquez 6-3, 6-1 in No. 2 singles play.

Vega topped Fernanda Aguayo 6-2, 6-0 in No. 3 singles play.

Garfias topped Theresa Garcia 6-2, 6-2 in No. 4 singles play.

Gurmen Bahia topped Esmeralda Hernandez 6-3, 7-6 in No. 5 singles play.

Bejaran topped Valerie Larios 6-3, 6-3 in No. 6 singles play.

Jimenez and Ontiveros topped Jacqueline Gomez and Litzy Rivera 6-2, 6-1 in No. 1 doubles play.

Ochoa and Gurmannet Bahia topped Arline Borja and Iris Garcia 6-1, 6-2 in No. 3 doubles play.

Esparza and Jasmine Bahia lost 1-6, 7-6, 11-9 to Daisy Cermeno and Vivian Lopez in No. 2 doubles play.
