Azia Brewster, Sydney Elness, Carli Gomes, Claudia Jimenez, Rachael Thomas, Destiny Adams, Haleigh Leazer, Seth Gibson, Conner Johnson, Johnni Smith-Willis, Cordell Dennis, Ulises Diaz, Isaac Soto, Christian Linarez, Angel Macias and Blake Borba represented Ceres High's varsity track and field program while competing at the Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV-V Championships this past week at Stanislaus State.
"We started in early January with conditioning," Bulldogs head coach Brett Johnson said. "It's been a long season. They've worked hard to get to where they're at."
Brewster led Ceres High's girls team. Azia finished second in the high jump with a personal-best mark (5-2) and seventh in the 100 hurdles (17.15).
Elness finished seventh in the triple jump (32-8) and 11th in the high jump (4-8).
Gomes finished 13th in the 300 hurdles (52.54).
Jimenez finished 13th in the 400 (1:06.31).
Thomas finished 19th in the 400 (1:08.15).
Ceres High's 4x400 relay team of Adams, Thomas, Jimenez and Leazer finished ninth (4:25.92).
Gibson and Johnson led Ceres High's boys team.
Seth finished fourth in the 110 hurdles (15.26).
Conner finished fourth in the shot put (47-41/2). He set a personal record in the event.
Diaz finished eighth in the 800 (2:06.21).
Ulises set a PR during trials.
Soto set a PR while finishing 12th in the pole vault (10-2).
Linarez finished 12th in the 1,600 (4:49.80).
Macias finished 21st in the 3,200 (11:08.06).
Angel also set a personal record.
Smith-Willis finished 21st in the 100 (11.56).
Ceres High's 4x100 relay team of Smith-Willis, Dennis, Diaz and Gibson finished fifth (44.79).
Ceres High's 4x400 relay team of Diaz, Borba, Gibson and Linarez placed eighth (3:48.49).
Brewster, Gibson and Johnson earned individual berths to the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters Meet, to be staged this Thursday and Friday in Elk Grove.
Smith-Willis, Dennis, Diaz and Gibson, Ceres High's 4x100 relay team, also qualified for the competition.
