The Ceres Seahawks varsity youth football team had a rough start to the 2011 season.
Defending Cen-Cal Super Bowl champion Buhach Colony won, 42-0, on Saturday at Central Valley High School.
Twenty of Ceres' 28 players are newcomers.
"The kids are disappointed," Seahawks head coach Junior Schaefer said. "But they know we're going to get better. We're a young team. I'm not worried."
Jamarea Lumpkin led Ceres' rushing attack. He totaled 40 yards.
The Seahawks managed to pick up just four first downs on offense.
The Thunder dominated every phase of the game.
Ceres allowed 35 points in the opening half.
"We just couldn't move the ball or stop them," Schaefer said. "We didn't do very well. It was tough to watch."
The Seahawks won all three games at the lower levels.
The JV, Pee-Wee and Rookies squads collected 14-6, 13-0 and 24-18 victories.
Ceres will play against the Los Banos Wildcats (0-1) this Saturday at Pacheco High School.
