Rambo Jacuinde and Braydon Perales both earned All-American honors while representing the Ceres Pups Wrestling Club at the Rocky Mountain Nationals, June 29-30, in Las Vegas.

“I’m excited for Rambo and Braydon,” said Steve Festa, club founder and president. “They deserve all the credit. They earned what they got. They represented our town and in the right way. I couldn’t be more proud of what they accomplished at the tournament.”

Jacuinde placed in the top three in two different weight divisions at the Folkstyle event.

“It’s the highest finish Rambo has ever had with us,” Festa said. “He competed in two weight classes to challenge himself. He wanted to get more matches. That’s the making of an elite wrestler.”

Jacuinde took second with a 2-1 record in the 11-and-under 114-pound class.

He collected wins against Nevada Elite’s Landon Boisa (forfeit) and Gold Rush’s Kaeden Orians (pin, 0:18).

He lost to Boom’s Juanito Lopez (decision, 8-4).

Jacuinde also finished third in the 10-and-under 113-pound bracket.

He won two of three matches.

He bested Pride Wrestling Club’s Ethan Del Valley (technical fall, 15-0) in the consolation round and Coachella Valley Wrestling Club’s Rhodes Cser (decision, 4-2) in the quarterfinals.

He lost to Bear Wrestling Club’s Ariyelle John (pin, 1:14) in the semifinals.

“He was beating kids that were seeded higher than him. It’s showing the work he’s putting in. He’s also learned how to flip the switch when he’s on the mat. He’s more aggressive. He’s having success because of that.”

Perales placed fifth in the 11-and-under 106-pound weight class.

He compiled a 1-2 overall record.

Perales won by major decision against Kirtland’s Clayton Blatchford during the fifth-place match

He lost by forfeit to Boom Wrestling’s Juanito Lopez in the consolation finals.

He lost by pin (3:42) to Suples’ Benjamine Vertner in the opening round of the tournament.

“Braydon’s one of the best wrestlers on our team,” Festa said. “He’s very athletic and strong. He’s smart. His technique and being able to think on the mat is what separates him. He’s special to watch.”

The Ceres Pups had just two representatives at the Rocky Mountain Nationals in Jacuinde and Perales.

“The season ended. They took the initiative to continue wrestling and test their skills. They were doing private sessions with their coach to get ready for it.”

“It’s really special when you have athletes that want to keep working."
