The Ceres Sizzle 10-and-under travel softball team brought home second-place hardware from the 3rd Annual Rylee Munsel Memorial Scholarship Tournament, staged July 6-7, in Sonora.

“Our girls played hard all weekend,” head coach Audel Valencia said. “The heat was brutal. They’re learning how important it is to hydrate early in the week in order to compete in three games on Saturdays.”

Ceres accumulated two wins and two losses.

The Sizzle won one of two games in the Silver Bracket.

Ceres lost 9-6 to Lady Extreme in the championship game on Sunday.

The Sizzle secured a 6-3 win against Base Crushers on Sunday.

Ceres compiled a 1-2 record during the seeding portion of the tournament.

All three games were played on Saturday.

The Sizzle defeated Rampage 6-1, and lost 6-1 to Lady Extreme and 9-2 to Phantom Fields.

Ceres has placed second twice in tournament play this summer.
